It is our great privilege to walk with you through this very special season as you anticipate, prepare for, and ultimately celebrate your own and/or your child's Holy Baptism. We can think of no more exciting occasion in the life of one who trusts and follows Jesus Christ than baptism.
Orientation
At Community Church of Joy we celebrate adult and child baptisms (immersion or pouring) on the third full weekend of every month. In order to help you prepare for baptism, there is an orientation on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00-10:30 AM in the West Lobby of the Worship Center. If the baptism is for a child, both parents are asked to attend; no childcare is provided.
You will be asked to provide the following information for your baptism certificate:
- Full name (including middle name) of person being baptized
- Date of birth
- City & state of birth
- Address & phone number
- If this is a child baptism, parents' names, address & phone number
- Sponsors' names (if applicable)
Baptism Day
On the day of baptism, we suggest you and any guests arrive 10 minutes before the service to allow enough seating for your entire party. During the worship service you will be called forward, along with sponsors, for the baptism. Sponsors are people who promise to help the baptized person to grow in their faith (some churches call them Godparents.)
As we spend time together in the days ahead, please know that we want to help you in every way possible to have a treasured and meaningful experience. If you have any questions or want to register for orientation, please e-mail baptism@joyonline.org or call 623-561-0500 x269.
