Nursery6 weeks - 2 years — We believe every child is a special gift from God and should be treated with kindness and respect. Our goal is to provide a clean, safe and loving environment where each child can see and experience the love of God and enjoy coming to church. We provide loving care and teaching during each service. Through the use of "Little Blessings," a monthly theme-based curriculum, simple Bible stories, songs, and finger plays are used to help focus the children's time with us on God's name and His love. Our caregivers are trained to meet the needs of young children and volunteers are screened and carefully selected to insure that each child receives the best care possible. A pager is provided at check-in. The pager number serves as a security check as well as a pager. Children will only be released to an adult. The nursery is located in Kid Kountry. Rooms are open 15 minutes prior to each service.
Preschool/Kindergarten3 years - Kindergarten — Our goal is to lay the foundation for learning and to prepare children's hearts to love and worship Jesus Christ. We have a scheduled teaching program to teach children Biblical principles and about God's love. We want your child to feel welcome and a part of our program through the people and activities that are planned. Each week the children hear a Bible story, and participate in crafts, music, and fun activities that support the lesson. They also have time to play with others, and enjoy a snack. Our classrooms are equipped with age appropriate toys, furniture, and supplies. To help you reinforce the Bible truths that are taught, a Family Time paper is sent home each week. Classes are located in Kid Kountry. Children may be dropped off 15 minutes before each service. Parents must sign children in and out of class and picked up by an adult.
Elementary1st - 6th Grades — Each Sunday your kids will experience God's amazing love through an awesome and exciting Kids Worship time, where kids praise God through large group Bible lessons, music videos, exciting live skits, fun games and small group reflection times. Summer Camp FAQs
Q. Who will be teaching the kids at camp?
A. We have interviewed and hired a team of quality, caring, trained interns. They, along with the volunteers, are supervised by the Children's Ministry staff at Joy.
Q. What should my child wear to camp?
A. Comfortable, cool clothing. Each day your child will spend at least some time in the outside (during the cooler part of the day), so please dress your child accordingly, and apply sunscreen as needed.
Q. May I request my child be place in the same class as their friend?
A. Yes! We want your child's camp experience to be memorable! However, in order to best serve all of our families (and plan ahead) we ask that any placement request be made at the time of registration. It becomes difficult to move children around and balance class sizes once rosters have been made.
Q. My child has a medical condition/allergy; will they be safe?
A. Each registration form will have an area for you to indicate any special needs or concerns your child may have. Please take special care to ensure Children’s Ministry is aware of these concerns and that you remind their classroom teacher.
Q. When/where is payment due for camps?
A. Payment is due at registration for the first two camps you register for, and at least two weeks prior to the start of other camps. We accept cash, checks, Visa and Master Card. You may register by stopping by the Children’s Ministry offices in Kid Kountry during the week, or during any Worship Service. Please make all checks payable to CCOJ.
Join the JoyKids Team!
We minister to several hundred children weekly. This requires a substantial number of volunteers. This is where you come in. Whether you enjoy holding babies, telling Bible stories, singing songs, playing guitar, working with puppets or even assisting with office work, there is a place for you. We will work together to find a place where you can use your God-given gifts to invest in the lives of children. You don’t have to be an expert. Each member of our team has one thing in common: a passion for children. If you have a heart to love God and a desire to work with children, then you have the two basic ingredients necessary to become a leader in children’s ministry. You do not need a degree in early childhood development or elementary education to be a great leader. At Community Church of Joy we are thorough with our new leader application and interview process and we work diligently to establish guidelines to ensure a safe, secure and loving environment for the children.
The following is a list of requirements volunteers must meet before entering a classroom:
- Be a member or regular attendee for a minimum of 6 months, consecutively.
- Complete an application including background information and references.
- Have Pastoral staff approval.
- Fingerprint procedure and criminal background check.
- Attendance of an orientation and training class.
If you just want to talk to someone who can guide you to the right opportunity for you, please contact Grace Anderson at Grace.Anderson@joyonline.org.
