Bible Studies for Men
Bible Study • Wednesday AMWednesday mornings at 6:00 AM we meet at Java Grounds Coffee shop (corner of Deer Valley Rd. & 83rd Ave.) Men of the Bible—Each week we take a close-up look at different men in Scripture—complex flesh-and-blood characters whose strengths and weaknesses often seem strangely similar to our own. Heroes and villains, sinners and prophets, commoners and kings...their dramatic life stories provide us with fresh perspectives on the unfolding story of redemption. Though our culture differs vastly from theirs, the fundamental issues we face in relation to God and the world remain the same. We still reach for great dreams and selfish ambitions. We wrestle with fear and indecision, struggle with sexual temptation, and experience the ache of loneliness and the devastation of betrayal. And, like many of these men, we long to walk more closely with the God who calls us into an intimate relationship with Himself and who enables us to fulfill His purpose for our lives.
Bible Study • Wednesday PMWednesday nights at 6:45 PM in Room 301 (Bldg. 3). What Jesus has to say about living beyond yourself—This is a video-based small group study of “The Sermon on the Mount.” The primary focus of this study is relationships, which includes Jesus' teaching on anger management, faithfulness in marriage, being both truthful and trustworthy, and loving our enemies. You will find this study to be challenging, practical and at times controversial and always quite surprising. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reaches beneath our actions to the attitudes that motivate us. He teaches us how to stop living for ourselves and how to start living beyond ourselves—and that kind of living is Inside Out Living.
Bible Study • Thursday AMThursday mornings at 6:00 AM we meet at "The Place" Restaurant located near 51st Ave. & Bell. The Book of Revelation—Revelation is an amazing and colorful picture of Jesus' triumph over every power of the devil. Talk about high action—this book is as vivid and violent as a science-fiction thriller. That's because it represents the battle of the ages: God vs. evil. His conquest is worth our greatest applause. Come join this group to learn and understand God's message to us that Christ is coming again. By trusting in Him with our future, we can better deal with our past and live a more productive present. We, like the Apostle John, can pray for Christ to return soon, because we know for certain that His coming will be a blessing for us. This will not only give us hope to persevere during tough times; it will also enhance the growth of our personal relationship with Him. As we trust in God, having the hope of meeting Him face to face, we will seek to prepare ourselves to come into full union with Him by growing in holiness.
