Welcome to Joy Christian School. It is my sincere pleasure to briefly introduce you to the technology program the Lord has blessed us with at JCS.
Technology is a focus of the always changing educational needs at Joy Christian School. Part of this process is continuing to expand our technology program on the Joy campus. We utilize the latest technologies, which provides an exciting and leading edge educational environment that enhances the total learning experience for all of our students. Our Notebook PC programs can lead to a more student centered approach to learning, where the teacher is not only the deliverer of knowledge but also a facilitator. Wired classrooms with the proper equipment such as Tablet PCs as well as Document Cameras connected to projectors allow for a complete package for teachers to engage the classroom.
Below are some of the ways technology is used in the classroom everyday at JCHS.
High School
The cornerstone of our high school technology program is the one-to-one laptop
initiative. All of our high school teachers and students are issued a MacBook
computer that gives them instant access to online curriculum and other educational
resources. The laptops operate in an environment that allows wireless access
to the internet and internal network, giving the teachers and students the
freedom to work and learn using their computers from anywhere on campus. Through
the use of virtual software the MacBook can also be used as a PC running XP
Pro and the full Office suite. In addition to our one-to-one initiative, our
campus technology program includes ceiling mounted classroom projectors and
classroom printers.
Faculty and students have access to their textbooks via the traditional hardcopy version, as well as, online versions. With the latest in curricular materials, students additionally have access to resources such as online video tutorials to assist them in their academic classes. For example, when students are outside of the classroom and have questions in math, they can receive video tutorials from an actual math teacher. When students are studying English and science they can use a program called “Live Ink” to assist them in reading and comprehension.
