Jesus said, "True worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks" (John 4:23).
Worship means giving worth to something or someone. If someone is valuable to us, we give them gifts, words, and time. That's what Christian worship is all about. Valuing a God who cares. Gratefully remembering Christ's selfless life and death. Rejoicing that he defeated even death. Offering ourselves to live the same way. But it starts with all that God has done for us.
Worship is something that, as a human, you can't not do. Think of all the things that are worthy to you, and think of all the ways you show it. It's as if there's a God-shaped hole in us which we try to fill with the best we can offer. Work, sports, relationships, shopping, TV—anything that takes up our time, money and effort. Think how good life would be if that hole in our loves was filled with love. Only God can do that.
